Clive Goodfellow Memorial Award
Fairest and Best First Grade Player
Clive Goodfellow(1914-1990) was a Farmer from High Range who ventured into town on the weekend to play cricket and became a local legend. He became known in the local press as “The Bowral Freak”, such was his brilliance in the game of Cricket. In one season in 1939-40, Clive had an aggregate score of 1511 runs at an average of 167.8. He scored seven centuries in first grade, one of these a double and one a treble. He broke Don Bradman’s record at Bradman Oval, scoring 333no in a day, which is still a record at the oval. Clive never had a lesson and rarely went to practice, but such was his timing that the bat that he scored over 5000 runs with, was hardly marked! He was not bowled out in first grade for eight consecutive seasons.
This Trophy is dedicated to the memory of Clive Goodfellow one of the greatest natural cricketers ever to play for Bowral Cricket Club and is awarded to the Fairest and Best First Grade Player.
